The Writing Retreat Weekend is a two-day opportunity to learn and practice the basics of writing good fiction, to write one short story and to generate future story ideas. The weekend alternates between dedicated periods of time to write and interactive mini-workshops on the craft of writing fiction.

The writers retreat will be led by Chris Copley, a journalist and teacher in Hagerstown, Md., who uses writing as a vehicle for personal growth, creative expression and good, old-fashioned storytelling.

The retreat takes place at Ananda Center at Laurelwood, a new educational campus a half-hour west of Beaverton, Ore., in the rustic Laurelwood Valley. The campus is founded on the Hindu-Christian principles of Yogananda, and provides vegetarian food and overnight accommodations for workshop participants. Guided yoga and meditation offered before breakfast on Saturday (optional). For more information about our accomodations visit our guest rooms page.
