Personal/Internship Retreat Testimonials

“The drive is beautiful and lovely coming from Portland with a minimum time spent on a highway. And it’s under 45 minutes for me! The open expanse of you with the great stargazing was my favorite thing about the fKirtan Elizabeth tentacility. My room was comfy as really helpful to have a sink in the room. Food was healthy and delicious – I hope you manifest a culinary genius to take it to the next level (farm to table.)”  Isa D., Portland, OR

“My time at the Ananda Center at Laurelwood was a wonderful and truly unique experience. As my focus was to renew a much needed daily meditation practice, I felt this was just what I needed. The location west of Portland and view from my room was absolutely incredible. The size of the center is substantial and there are numerous outdoor areas to appreciate. The hike up to the Yogananda Gardens is a must as it is a truly special place for reflection. I found all to be comfortable but maybe not for everyone based on the dorm room accommodations and shared bath rooms. The daily vegetarian meals provided for the community were always great and I was amazed at the daily effort made by community members to make it all happen. Overall I felt the center was well organized and community members were very respectful and positive. This is a special place. I already miss it and definitely hope to return again.”I really enjoyed being removed from city life. The scenery is amazing and everyone is very friendly. The food was very good. I was happy to see options for vegans such as myself. Overall it was an incredibly positive experience.” Brian G, Portland, OR

“This internship is such a gift in so many ways. I am learning so many skills (adwords, wordpress, mail chimp, seo, marketing/outreach, google programs) that will really shine on my resume, and having the opportunity to practice these in a setting where I am a respected part of the team is encouraging my learning and growth so much. Also thanks to the great lakes initiative I am able to learn and practice these skills in such a beautiful location with amazing food and tons of fun outdoor activities and yoga sessions! I can’t really imagine a better use of my summer. Landis S”., Shoreview, MN

“I came here to learn agricultural skills, but walked away with so much more! My experience here exceeded any expectation. In the month I spent here, I learnt so many gardening and farming skills from Manisha, who takes care of the community farm. She was so wonderful and generous with her knowledge. I also built lasting friendships and was able to honour my own path, nourishing my soul with great food, supportive community and beautiful nature. Ananda has made a lasting impression on my journey! So grateful to have discovered this place”
