Hanuman is the co-founder of Ananda House in Gaston, OR, an adult foster care home based on the principles of Swami Kriyananda’s 12 Precepts of Evening Hospice. Hanuman is a Certified Hospice and Palliative Care Nurse, as well as a Certified End of Life Practitioner trained by the Metta Institute. For more information about Ananda House, see www.anandahouse.org
Hanuman received his BSN from Washington State School of Nursing. He has been an Ananda member since 1981, and has served in the ministry for the past 27 years. After graduating from Palmer Chiropractic College in the San Francisco Bay Area, Hanuman and his wife Mari moved to Ananda Village, in California. There he managed recordings, worked as an ICU nurse, and ran a thriving chiropractic practice. In 1991, he and Mari moved to Portland, where Hanuman has continued to gather and build skills in the areas of leadership, medical care, ministry, and counseling.
Hanuman has worked hard to make the dream of a multi-generational assisted living center become a reality at Ananda House. His rich tapestry of experiences, and his deep compassion and care for vulnerable populations, have given him the ability to create a living space for our community’s aging population, where everyone’s needs are addressed not only physically and mentally, but also emotionally and spiritually.
