Beyond the Postures: A Spiritual Yoga Retreat

With David Seybert and Miriam Rodgers

September 21 - 23, 2018

Go beyond yoga as a purely physical practice, and experience its deeper essence. The practice of yoga asanas (postures) is one part of a broader system of Raja (“Royal”) Yoga, a comprehensive system of spiritual practice described by the sage Patanjali in his Yoga Sutras.

The word “yoga” comes from the Sanskrit root “yuj”, which can be translated as “union”.  Yoga postures, combined with right attitudes, breath control and meditation, are potent tools to harmonize body and mind and dissolve the barriers between our limited minds and higher consciousness.

This retreat will present familiar yoga postures in a new light and a deeper context.  You will explore the energetic movements and spiritual attitudes associated with the physical postures. You will expand asana practice to become a sadhana (spiritual practice) by incorporating pranayama (breath & energy control) and meditation.

Next retreats in series – “Awakening the Chakras”, followed by “Raising your Energy”
