Awakening the Chakras: A Spiritual Yoga Retreat

There is a growing awareness of the existence of subtle energy fields in and around our physical bodies. Imbalances in this energy field (or “astral body”) can manifest as physical or psychological disturbances or illness. The practices of yoga have a beneficial effect not only the physical body, but on the subtle energy field of the astral body as well.
Using a deep and focused practice of Ananda Yoga, we’ll awaken and stimulate the energy centers (chakras) of the astral body to experience their subtle influences on our consciousness. The chakras are important keys to understanding our psychological and emotional natures, and working with them through yoga can help us transform negative thought patterns into positive, spiritual qualities.
Through meditation and visualization, we’ll become more aware of the structure of the astral body and location of the chakras within the astral spine, which is the key highway for the flow of energy through the chakras. Using yoga asanas, pranayama, meditation, visualization, mantra and sound to awaken these chakras, we’ll direct our energies up the astral spine toward their highest expression.
