Beginners Yoga and Meditation Retreat

Experience a relaxing retreat with instruction in beginning meditation, Ananda Yoga, explore spiritual principles and feel the joy of community, while surrounded in the beauty and peace of our rural retreat center west of Portland, Oregon. Enjoy the beautiful, scenic drive to our retreat center in the quiet, peaceful Laurelwood Valley.

Retreat weekend includes:

  • Learn a unique style of hatha yoga to add to your personal practice.  Ananda Yoga is suitable for all bodies and abilities. It includes stretching, strengthening and toning muscles in your core, while releasing stress, emotional and physical tensions.
  • Instruction in effective and practical Meditation techniques to expand your consciousness
  • Exploration of universal spiritual principles that can improve every aspect of your life and the concept of Self Realization as taught by Paramhansa Yogananda
  • Introduction to the Energization Exercises which bring increased energy and vitality
  • Experience the deeply relaxing and healing Restorative Yoga on Saturday evening.
  • Personal retreat time on Sunday morning
  • An experience of a dynamic spiritual community where every day is a joyful adventure
  • “Satsanga” – fellowship with truth seekers who are committed to living with higher consciousness and expanded awareness

Experience in-depth instruction in meditation, and guided yoga postures. Morning and afternoon yoga and meditation are offered daily in addition to sessions of instruction and discussion. Explore spiritual principles that can help you improve your quality of life. Our teachers have devoted their lives to life-transforming meditation and yogic principles and will guide you from their own love of the practice and of people.

This retreat will help you to develop a fit body, a more positive mental outlook, a joyful heart, and an expanded awareness of the beauty of your soul and the world around you.

Retreat packages include organic vegetarian meals from Friday dinner through Sunday lunch, workshop sessions, instruction and daily meditation and yoga practices. Registration for Day Program on Saturday includes lunch. Enjoy the delicious vegetarian meals that are included as part of your retreat and rejuvenate while being surrounded by nature in a beautiful pastoral valley. Come for the day program or relax in our simple yet uplifting guest rooms with a view of the expansive valley or the thriving orchards. Each room has its own sink with bathrooms just down the hall.

11:45 –12:30  Experiential Sadhana, with Energization, Ananda Yoga, prayer, chanting, pranayama, guided meditation, healing prayer (Expansion Yoga Room)
2:00- 3:00   Qigong & Walking Meditation (Outdoors, weather permitting)
4:30 – 6:00  Energization, Ananda Yoga and short meditation (Chapel of All Religions)
